Annual Leave Processes for UIS

Processes to be followed for requesting, authorising, and recording Annual Leave for UIS staff

Annual Leave Year for UIS Staff 

The period for calculating entitlement to annual leave for UIS staff is 1 January – 31 December.

Authorisation for carrying forward unused annual Leave 

Up to five days: 

Team Leaders (on behalf of the Head of Institution) can authorise a carry-over of up to five days leave (pro rata for part-time staff). This should be done by email to the UIS Admin Office. 

 

Six to ten days  Deputy Directors (on behalf of the Head of Institution) can authorise a carry-over of six to ten days leave (pro rata for part-time staff). (Form attached) 
Over ten days  The Director of UIS can authorise a carry-over of over ten days leave (pro rata for part-time staff), depending on individual circumstances. 

Whoever authorises the carry-over of unused leave (ie: Team Leader, Deputy Director, Director) must notify the Admin Office for the records.
